Housing Development - London Borough of Brent

Background

The development was for the construction of two detached residential properties in the rear gardens of existing 19th century properties, within a conservation area.

The site was adjacent to residences classified as non-designated heritage assets, significant due to their age, architectural style, and role in demonstrating the historic development of the settlement.

Proposed Development

The new houses were designed to integrate with the conservation area, replicating significant features including gabled roofs, segmented window arches, and dormer windows. Materials used were consistent with those found throughout the conservation area.

Heritage Impact Assessment

It was expected that there would be a low, adverse impact on adjoining non-designated heritage assets due to proximity and setting, however, overall, the development would cause no harm to the significance of the conservation area.

Mitigation Measures

The design minimised visual and contextual impact within the conservation setting.

No heritage mitigation was recommended.
